CTAHE Honored with ACHE 2021 Region 1 Regent-at-Large Diversity Award!

November 1, 2021

Annually, American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) regional Regent-at-Larges bestow Awards for Chapter Accomplishments in Diversity to a chapter in their district that actively demonstrates a commitment to and successful execution of significant diversity and inclusion efforts within the chapter, community and the healthcare management field.

The Connecticut Association of Healthcare Executives (CTAHE) is thrilled to have been honored with the 2021 Region 1 Regent-at-Large Chapter Diversity Award!

Criteria for Regent-at-Large Award for Chapter Accomplishments in Diversity

  • The chapter actively demonstrates a commitment to and successful execution of significant diversity and inclusion efforts within their chapter, community, and the healthcare management field.
  • These efforts translate into increased engagement of diverse individuals that support ACHE’s goals to increase the number of racially/ethnically diverse Members and Fellows and reduce their membership attrition.

CTAHE is incredibly proud of the work that our D,E & I committee did during 2020 and 2021 to advance education for leaders around the state on how to provide equitable access to care for vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 pandemic. We held two panel discussions, one in June of 2020 then again in October of 2020 that featured some of the best and brightest minds in Connecticut on health equity and care:
–Linda K. Barry, MD, MPH, FACS, Associate Professor of Surgery, Director of the Office of Multicultural and Community, University of Connecticut Medical School
–Maritza Bond, MPH, Director of Health for the City of New Haven
–Tekisha Dwan Everette, PhD, Executive Director of Health Equity Solutions
–Sarah S. Lewis, MPH, Vice President for Health Equity at Hartford HealthCare

Our D,E & I committee also hosted a webinar featuring Sheila Thorne, CEO and President of Multicultural Healthcare Marketing Group in February 2021 that educated leaders on the history of medical mistrust and how to overcome it in the communities they care for.

The committee this past year has also made great strides in fostering diverse membership growth within our chapter by conducting focus groups and marketing campaigns!

CTAHE also congratulates our fellow chapter winners for their efforts in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion locally:
District 2: American College of Healthcare Executives of Central Florida
District 3: ACHE of Greater Ohio
District 4: South Texas Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives
District 5: Washington State Healthcare Executive Forum
