Connecticut Regent Spring 2021 Message

June 8, 2021

Greetings!

While it has been a damp spring in our state, as I write this message our weather is predicted to be in the 70’s soon. With spring we continue to hold great events and educational opportunities both at the national ACHE level and in our CTAHE chapter.

The higher education network (HEN) of CTAHE continues its work through virtual connection with each school in Connecticut. New this year is a set of early careerist virtual education platforms to include a most recent one held on April 10th – “Careers in Healthcare Consulting.” Need Face to Face Credits? CTAHE is also offering another virtual 6 credit face-to-face series – “Hospitals and Health Systems of the Future: Transforming to Thrive,” beginning on Wednesday July 21st. Those interested can sign up on the chapter website.

CTAHE members always enjoy the annual golf outing, which this year was held on May 25th. Following the golf outing the chapter held a networking reception and presentation of its annual awards. I was pleased to present three regent awards that evening. Congratulations to Marissa Yulo, for receiving the Student Award. Thank you Marissa for your engagement as a student board member and work in committee and chapter initiatives. Stephen Liebowitz, received the early careerist award for his work with the HEN education network. Stephen, a senior consultant with BRG, has given a lot of effort this past year. In particular, he was instrumental in creating the virtual programming for early careerists and physician leaders. Kim Lumia, Chapter President, was awarded the senior careerist award. Kim has been a superb leader of the chapter over the past few years always giving of herself and, is a great model of servant leadership.

Congratulations to all award recipients!

A reminder that ACHE continues to waive the $250 application fee for members who plan to take the Board of Governors Exam. This waiver is in place until June 30, 2021.

ACHE recently announced the beginning of the election process to select Regents to serve on ACHE’s Council of Regents.  I am honored to serve as your Regent and will be completing my term March 2022. I have to admit, a 3 year term as a Regent passes very quickly! Please contact me if you wish to understand the role and responsibilities.  If you are interested in becoming Regent you can also view the official call for Regent election on the ACHE website.

Warmly,

Denise J. Fiore, FACHE
Connecticut Regent
